Dr. Ferreira earned her veterinary degree at the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) in Brazil and completed the ECFVG certification program of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the pathway that qualifies internationally trained veterinarians to practice in the United States. She has practiced for decades, most of them right here in Miami.

The rescue cases Miami knows her for

When rescue groups find the animals nobody else will take, they often end up on the Trail. Three cases you may have seen on TV:

• The dog found shot in a Davie dumpster. WSVN 7News covered his recovery at Ferreira Animal Hospital while investigators searched for who hurt him. Watch the WSVN story.
• "Miracle," shot in the head and left for dead. CBS Miami followed his treatment under Dr. Ferreira's care. See the CBS Miami report.
• The puppy who chose his own family. After nearly dying in a park, a neglected puppy was brought to Dr. Ferreira, recovered, and was adopted by the Miami-Dade police officer who found him. Read it on Local 10.

What is she like in the exam room?

Direct, warm, and honest about your options. Clients describe her as "assertive, honest" and "clear and transparent." She would rather explain three choices with three prices than hand you one big bill. That philosophy is now the whole hospital's promise: estimates before treatment, always.
